Caring for his mother and younger brothers, life at home is very busy for 20 year old Ali Mudassir from Glasgow.
A victim of domestic abuse, Ali’s disabled mother was forced to flee Pakistan with her three children when he was just 17 leaving Ali with responsibility for many day to day tasks as well as seeking asylum.
But, amongst his busy home life, Ali has spent the last year volunteering for around 45 hours every week with his own intergenerational fishing project.
Supported by Get Hooked on Fishing, the project supports Scottish and asylum seeking kids alike from a deprived area, allowing them to access the sport.
Ali also volunteers at Scottish Refugee Council, Freedom From Torture and at Glasgow Mosque, serving hot food to those who need it most.
