Spread the word
Truth About Youth recently teamed up with successful Grants Fund applicants, Argyll and Bute Youth Forum to help them spread the word of all the fantastic work done by the young people in the area by helping them produce the finalists videos for the first ever Argyll and Bute Awards 2013. The awards were held at the Phoenix Cinema in Oban and was a huge success in showing all the contributions young people in Argyll and Bute are making. A massive well done and congratulations to all the finalist and winners on the night.
Megan, at only 15 years of age, provides an enormous amount of practical and emotional support to her mother in looking after her four brothers who all have a disability, ranging from Global Development Deficit and Dyspraxia to ADHD and Autism. Megan, who is home schooled and fits her studies around her caring role, gives a high level of personal carer for her 7 year old brother who is severely non-verbally autistic. She enables them to establish a life outside the family home and helps them with shopping and to socialise. Despite the challenges presented, Megan is positive, enthusiastic and selfless. She also undertakes fundraising and provides peer support to other carers.
