Ryan Nicholson, aged 17 from North Berwick in East Lothian, has been volunteering at the local British heart foundation since he was 16 and has clocked up over 300 hours. He also volunteers at the day centre every Friday which helps keep older people company and supports them in life.
But all this wasn’t enough. After watching both his grandmothers suffer from dementia, Ryan also set up a fundraising organisation called ForgetMeNot to raise more money for the day centre.
He is now writing children’s books in the hope that he can get them published to teach kids about dementia and is hoping to be able to go into schools to help other young people understand more about the illness.
