Jess Ryan, aged 22 from Inverness was the victim of some of the most horrific sexual abuse and neglect growing up. Abused by a large number of men and ignored by her parents, she ended up drinking, drug taking and self-harming.
Helped by Children 1st, she turned her life around and then was brave enough to give up her anonymity to become the face of the charity’s See. Hear. Speak. Act campaign. Jess went public with her story in the hope that other people going through a similar ordeal would speak out.
Now a mum herself, Jess is committed to ensuring that all victims get help and says her life now is proof that things can change.
