Born 13 weeks prematurely and with hydrocephalus, Gemma Stevenson, aged 26 from Kilwinning in Ayrshire, has 3 shunts in her head and over the years she has undergone 18 brain operations.
A remarkable girl, Gemma has become an advocate for young people with special needs and speaks at various conferences throughout Scotland and sings at charity events throughout her area. She also has her own community radio show which airs every week. She has worked tirelessly with Hansel village and the Circles network to promote the impact of being a young person with special needs and never lets her health issues get her down.
