Working in the some of most deprived neighbourhoods in Scotland, Carly McNeil, aged 19 from Glasgow, goes above and beyond in providing a first class service improving the areas she works in.

A young woman in a very male dominated environment, she is a 3rd year horticulture apprentice with Glasgow Housing Association.  During the winter Carly worked in a number of sheltered housing complexes salting and gritting paths. Working with the local community in Milton she helped to redevelop a well-used community centre and Carly has also taken a lead in building and establishing a new growing nursery at a local Environmental depot.  The plants that Carly has nurtured have been planted in a number of sheltered complexes across Glasgow, helping to enrich the lives of the residents.
